New year, new blog

Some people paint, some make music, some run fast, some kick a ball around… and some of us write.

I’m one of those who write, but that’s just part of what I do. I also teach, train and counsel others. When I’m involved in writing, or enabling others to write, I’m in my element. It’s my work but it often doesn’t feel like work.

If you know that feeling, I’d love to hear from you. I’ve called this blog ‘joined up writers’ because that’s what I hope to find here; others who will join in the conversation about writing, the teaching of creative writing, and how to make connections through words.

My New Year’s writing resolution is to blog here at least once a week. I’m going to write about things that inspire me, questions that occur to me, writing adventures and exercises that are fruitful or otherwise… really anything writing related, even on the days when writing seems impossible.

You can help by making me stick to my resolution.

Let’s join up.

See you in 2013.

I think this is a wonderful idea, Jane. My own New Year resolution, in so far as I have made one formally, is to write more, too (and that includes making more frequent posts to my own neglected blog on Posterous).

I’m starting the year as I mean to go on: I’m going to a Guardian Master Class in feature writing on the weekend of 12/13 Jan, and a blog writing course in Brum on 31 Jan.

And now I’ll try to be part of your joinedupwriters community, too, if I may?

I hope 2013 is the best ever for you, and I also hope to get to see you at some point this year!

    very best, K x

Kitty! [friendly wave] I hear only good things about the Guardian Masterclasses. Will you have time for a glass of something that weekend? Do come back here and share any pearls of writing wisdom.

I’m really looking forward to it, I must say. I’ve sent you an fb message about the possibility of catching up ……and yes, I’ll report back here on anything that comes out of the course/s, of course! Great that you have set up this forum. x

Wonderful to have inspirational people like you, Jane, to keep me going. I shall enjoy your blog. I am also going to try and write more consistently. A creative and productive 2013 to you. x

Hi Jane, I found you! I will follow your blog with interest and am thinking of starting one of my own. Using Twitter over the Christmas period showed me that publishing doesn’t have to be a big deal and even small pieces of writing can find an audience and response. The important things are to make the time and find the space to put pen paper (or fingers to keys).
    Mary
